How do you get your kids to love broccoli?
Simply add a little magic to lunch-time by serving not just any boring veggie, but an extremely rare magical giant carrot!!
"What's for lunch?" is a typical childrens' question that will never be followed by a hooray if answered with "veggies". But when I got all mysterious about a special ingredient that they have never ever seen before, the girls waited in excited anticipation.
Eventually, I revealed that I am glad to have found one of the few giant carrots that there are left in this world. They grow deep in the earth and when someone walks by he might think it's normal broccoli because there are only few people left who know the secret of the magical giant carrots. When someone is lucky enough to find such a magical giant carrot and eats both parts - the orange and the green one - then something magical will happen.
Of course they knew that there is no such thing as a magical giant carrot, but making up a little story or adventure around the veggies did the trick - they stuffed the broccoli in their little mouths.
The magical extra that the carrot brings could be their favorite sweet afterwards or a special story before naptime like "The Giant Turnip".
