The toddler years are full of new discoveries and learning at this age can be so fun. Here's a way to help your little one learn their shapes.
First we made some recognizable shapes. We used cut outs from the internet to make sure we wouldn't confuse the little ones. I could just picture it. From the baby, 'I thought this was a square.' And then me, 'No honey, it's supposed to be a triangle.'
We glued the shapes on to our box spaced pretty evenly.
Then we cut them out with our handy pocket knife. It was easier then I imagined actually.
The next step just made it more fun. We used acrylics to decorate the box and make it more inviting.
The shapes got their own colors to make it simple and the cut outs were outlined as well. The rest of the box was used for artistic expression.
The shapes pop easily into their matching holes when you have the right one. This box works perfect because it can be used for storage and also opens pretty easily to practice over and over.
This is a fun way to practice fine motor skills and shape recognition at the same time.
