Have you ever had so many pictures of the people you love and want to showcase on your refrigerator that it ends up looking like a cluttered mess? I know this is so true of me. From close family and Christmas cards to Baby announcements and post cards from exotic vacations, our fridge is full of memories and reminders of the ones we love.
Here is a simple way for your kids to help you unclutter those magnetic surfaces and display their favorite photos.
All you need are:
Lids from old jars ( we started with baby food lids but moved on to bigger lids as well)
Non toxic paint and paint brush
Self sticking magnet strip
Pen
Scissors
Photos or smaller artwork
We first collected different sized lids and washed and dried them thoroughly.
We decided to paint our lids all a matching white but you can let your kids pick the colors and have fun with the results!
After the paint was dry, we cut magnets to the size of the lids and stuck them on.
We put the lids over the parts of the pictures we wanted framed, traced them and cut them out.
Then we just popped the photos into the frames. The edges of the jar will keep the photo in place and still make it easy to switch it out if you ever want.
I wasn’t sure that the magnets would hold but the jar lids seem to be light enough because it’s been a week and they’re still looking fantastic on the fridge!
Custom frame magnets are always my weakness. I spend a lot in decorating my home with magnetic frames and stickers which is really expensive, but DIY is awesome. i love doing this and its not so costly. i l surely try this. i use to collect travel magnets to stick on my fridge.
